Over 9,000 fans show up for Jazz scrimmage

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 Sports) - The team could not believe what they were seeing. A crowd of over 9,000 fans packed the lower bowl at EnergySolutions Arena Thursday night to watch the Jazz play an intra-squad scrimmage.

"Wow," said head coach Quin Snyder. "I don't know who's more excited, the players or the fans. Just to see that enthusiasm, I think it lets the guys know that they're appreciated."

"It was crazy," said rookie Rodney Hood. "I got chills just walking out there on the court. I just appreciate all the fans coming out."

While the scrimmage was sloppy at times and Dante Exum, the 5th overall pick in the NBA Draft, struggled with his shot in his first 5-on-5 game action since December, the team was happy with their intensity.

"When you get in and your adrenaline is up, you just want to run, run, run," Exum said. "It kind of took me a bit to settle down and start playing my game. My shots weren't falling tonight, but it was just about getting my teammates involved and I think I did that well."

"I think today was a good preview going into Vegas," added point guard Trey Burke. "I think we all were kind of shocked and surprised with how many people were out there. I think the biggest thing is we all played hard."

Snyder was pleased with the way Burke and Exum played together.

"I like the way they were passing the ball," Snyder said. "I mean, they can get it into the gaps and make plays for other people."

The Jazz open Summer League play Saturday night against Philadelphia at 8:30 p.m.
