“I am pleased to nominate David Barlow to serve the people of Utah as a United States Attorney,” said President Obama in a released statement to the media.
The White House press release said that Barlow has been serving as counsel for Senator Michael Lee since January 2011.
The release said that prior to serving as Lee's Counsel, he worked for private law firms since 1998.
Barlow graduated from BYU in 1995 and Yale Law School in 1998.
ABC 4 News first reported on July 8 that Barlow would be nominated.
Senator Orrin Hatch released a statement regarding Barlow's nomination later on Tuesday, saying:
“I applaud the federal prosecutors in Utah who have continued their hard work during the search for a U.S. Attorney who can be confirmed. David Barlow is a brilliant attorney with solid Utah values and sound judgment. I am confident he will be a thoughtful and fair U.S. Attorney who will serve the people Utah well.”
