LEHI, Utah (ABC 4 News ) - It's a big day in Lehi. Friday morning they opened their first shopping center and the state's newest outlet mall.

Hundreds of people were excited to check out what's new. While it's exciting to have a new outlet mall, it was the location that really had people talking.

Rebecca Strongo said, "It's shopping close by. I don't have to go all the way to Orem or salt lake. It's nice to have something close by."

But nobody is as thrilled as Lehi's Mayor.

Mayor Burt Wilson said, "This is like Chirstmas, this is better than Christmas. Something we have been waiting for in our community for a lot of years."

Mayor Wilson and his team have been working to change Lehi from the spot in between Utah and Salt Lake County into Lehi, a destination city. It looks like they are doing it.

Mayor Wilson said, "We have a lot of businesses coming. This is the place of cranes and a lot going on."
