SANDY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - Since the arrest of both former Utah attorneys general John Swallow and Mark Shurtleff ABC 4 Utah stayed close to both their homes on Tuesday talking with neighbors to see what they make of the arrests.

“I don't want to say it's about time but I think the FBI knows. People might say that things were done wrongly, a lot of things are, but I think justice has been done,” said Rebecca Syndergaard, John Swallow's Neighbor

Syndergaard is fairly new to john swallow's neighborhood but not the allegations brought against the former attorney general who was arrested Tuesday morning along with Mark Shurtleff on charges ranging from bribery to tampering with evidence, misuse of public funds and more.

“The FBI knows what their doing they've done their investigations and they've arrested him for good reason,” said Syndergaard.

However, not everyone feels that way about the former top cop or the former AG Mark Shurtleff. Some neighbors say Shurtleff is a good man, he has done a lot for the Utah and call his arrest a witch hunt. While none of his neighbors went to bat for him on camera, some of Swallow's did.

“As far as how charges are I can't speak to having any knowledge on that i just know him and love him as a neighbor and as a friend. I try not to cast any judgment because i know him and he's a great guy, said Swallow's neighbor who chose not to go on camera.

Swallow's neighbor says he didn't see the arrest, but his heart goes out to him and his family. “I just feel sorry for him and his family. I mean this is a lot to go through for anybody regardless.”

So, while some are sad others say if you did the crime, you should do the time. “I was just happy justice had been done when I heard it this morning,” said Syndergaard.

If convicted, both Swallow and Shurtleff could serve up toe 30 years in prison.
