Man killed in American Fork crash

- AMERICAN FORK, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) -- A man was killed in a head on collision in American Fork Sunday night.

American Fork Police Lt. Sam Liddiard said the 33-year-old was driving a car in the eastbound lane on Pioneer Crossing at about 5:15 p.m. when the car crossed a raised median and went into oncoming traffic. The man's identity was not released Sunday night.

The car was hit broadside on the passenger side by a pickup truck. The driver of the car died at the scene, Liddiard said. The driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital with what police describe as minor injuries. A medical helicopter was called out but was cancelled.

Liddiard said police were investigating whether distracted driving on the part of the driver was a factor in the fatal collision.

Westbound traffic on Pioneer Crossing was blocked for about two hours after the crash.
