Man drowns in Yuba Lake

YUBA LAKE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - County officials say a man drowned while swimming in Yuba Lake over the weekend.

According to the Sanpete County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a call at approximately 3:30 p.m. on a report of a possible drowning in the water near the Painted Rocks campground.

Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office, Gunnison Police Department, Sanpete Search and Rescue, Sevier County Search and Rescue, Juab County and State Parks Officers responded to the call.

According to witnesses, the victim was in the water, called for help, then went under water and did not resurface.

A witness told ABC 4 News that the bystanders tried to dive in and save him, but were unsuccessful.

Family members called 911 and emergency personnel responded.

At approximately 8:45 p.m., officials say the body of 29-year-old Archie Brock of Taylorsville was located and was pronounced deceased by the Medical Examiner.
