FAIRFIELD, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) -- One man is confirmed dead after a paragliding accident Sunday afternoon in Utah County.

The Utah County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as 54-year-old Ronald Allen Carter of Farmington.

Lt. Yvette Rice said the accident occurred at about 5:45 p.m. on Sunday. Dispatchers received a call from one of Carter's friends who had witnessed the crash.

According to a statement released Sunday night, Carter was practicing some advanced maneuvers when the paraglider plummeted to the ground on Allens Ranch Road just south of Fairfield. He was with three friends who described Carter as an experienced paraglider, according to the statement.

The Utah County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident but do not believe it to be suspicious. The exact cause of the accident was not known Sunday night.
