Lone Peak wins record 4th straight state title

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 Sports) - The dynasty continues.

Led by TJ Haws' 29 points, the Lone Peak Knights defeated Region 4 rival Pleasant Grove 84-66 to win its 4th straight 5A state championship. The Knights are the first school in any class to win four consecutive boys state titles.

"This is the best feeling in the world," Haws said. "Especially to do it with these guys, it's just been so much fun. We made history."

"Four in row, top-10 scorer in state history all-time, he's as good as any player, if not the best, that's ever been through the state," head coach Quincy Lewis said about Haws.

Haws made 10 of 17 shots, including 8 of 14 three-pointers. But Zach Frampton was the hero in the first half. He scored 21 points in the first two quarters as Lone Peak raced out to a 47-29 halftime lead. Frampton finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds. The Knights made 14 three-pointers and led by as many as 28 points.

"It's been my dream since I was in 9th grade to get this 4-peat," Frampton said. "To have it happen is just amazing. I couldn't ask for anything more."

Matt Conway led the Vikings with 16 points, while Mark Sheffield added 13.
