I-80 to be reduced to one lane in Parleys Canyon

- SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) - The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is scheduled to reduce westbound Interstate 80 to one lane at the Mountain Dell interchange (Exit 134) in Parleys Canyon for approximately 48 hours beginning Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m. Construction crews will be making pavement repairs.

During these lane restrictions, drivers can expect delays of up to two hours and are advised to use I-84 or U.S. 40 to Provo Canyon as alternate routes. Those traveling to Salt Lake City on Thursday or Friday should plan ahead and leave early, especially for the University of Utah football game Thursday night.

While these restrictions are in place, all on and off ramps at the Mountain Dell exit will remain open. State Route 65 will also remain open.

This work is being performed in the daytime because nighttime temperatures in Parleys Canyon are too cold for asphalt paving. The lane restrictions are weather-dependent and subject to change. Motorists should plan ahead for delays of up to two hours during construction.

This work is part of Renovate I-80, a UDOT initiative designed to improve and reinforce the existing infrastructure and enhance safety along I-80, which is one of the most widely driven corridors in Utah.
