House party turns into dangerous hostage situation

WEST VALLEY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – What started out as a house party turned into dangerous hostage situation.

Witnesses say Edgar Reynoso told his guests they could not leave his party or he would kill them.  The homeowner had shown off his gun earlier that night.  Several people trying to leave house called 911.

"Our officers responded.  They could see that there was a party going on. They tried to make contact at the door, and no one would answer," said Lt. Dalan Taylor with the West Valley Police Dept.

Eventually, officers forced their way in.

"A fight broke out when the officers went in.  They had to call for additional units to come," explained Taylor

After the riot calmed down a bit, police found dozens of minors drinking alcohol.

"We issued 60 citations, and we booked 12 people in jail," said Taylor

Police booked Reynoso on several charges, including aggravated kidnapping and inciting a riot.

"My sergeant was telling me there were about 150 people there, so it was jam-packed," said Taylor

Neighbors in the area do not want to publicly comment, but they say the whole situation has really scared them.
