The Blue Angels are making their presence known above the skies in southern Utah and one of those dressed in blue is a hometown hero from Murray Utah.
As the Blue Angels Rip across the skies of St. George preparing for "Thunder Over Utah" air show, Lt. Ben Hernandez, makes sure they are fit to fly.
"I'm the medic for the team. I assist the flight surgeon keeping everybody healthy and safe," said Lt. Hernandez.
A graduate of Murray High School Lt. Hernandez has been a Blue Angel for the last two and a half years and at just 30 years old he's fulfilling his dream while also making his family proud.
"It's been awesome. I have a long family history in the Navy so to be able to do something like this, that has such a historical significance within the navy is really cool," said Hernandez. He goes on to say "My grandpa was Navy and always told us stories growing up. So, when I got the chance I joined the Navy went into the the medical field and ultimately through aviation i had the opportunity to apply for the blue angels, and I jumped on it."said Hernandez.
Lt. Hernandez says he's thrilled to be a part of this weekends "Thunder over Utah" air show and although he's now based in Pensacola Florida, Utah will always be his home sweet home .
"It's great, there's not better felling than coming home," said Lt. Hernandez
