SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 - Utah) The Great Utah Shakeout, a statewide earthquake disaster drill, will be happening this Thursday, April 17th at 10:15 a.m.

Utahns, businesses, and emergency responders will have drills across the state.

"We ask all Utahns, where ever they are, to stop what they're doing, drop to the ground, take cover and hold on for one minute," said Joe Dougherty, Spokesman with the Division Emergency Management. "Just like there's an earthquake."

So far, more than 800,000 people will drop, cover, and hold on, Thursday morning.

"Everyone knows what you're supposed to do in a fire, stop drop and roll - but we're trying to get into people's heads the drop, cover and hold on, which can keep you safe in an earthquake," said Dougherty.
