PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - Wednesday night a Utah County officer killed in the line of duty is honored.

Sgt. Cory Wride and his family received the award at the Freedom Awards Gala in Provo.

"We are here to be reminded of the greatness of our country…of the freedom that we have liberty and the people who have sacrificed to keep it alive,” said Shallen Berger, with America’s Freedom Festival.

Three additional people were recognized at the awards gala as well: Col. Bill Coultrup, who's squadron captured Saddam Hussein in 2003, Tito Momen, who was imprisoned in Egypt for 15 years after converting to the LDS faith, and Joseph Kim, who sought asylum in the U.S after a daring escape from his home country, North Korea.
