Exum scores 10 points in Summer League debut for Jazz

LAS VEGAS (ABC 4 Sports) - Jazz rookie point guard Dante Exum scored 10 points on 4 of 10 shooting and handed out three assists in his Summer League debut, but the Jazz lost to the Philadelphia 76ers, 74-70.

Jordan McRae connected on a pair of free throws with just over a minute to play to give the 76ers the points needed to seal the victory.

Utah was led by Malcom Thomas with 13 points, while Rudy Gobert and Trey Burke each added 11 points.

Both teams struggled from the field in the game, Philadelphia connecting on 34 percent from the field on 23 for 67 while Utah connected on 36 percent on 26 for 72. The contest featured 15 lead changes and eight ties.

Sean Kilpatrick, an undrafted rookie out of Cincinnati, scored 11 points in the opening quarter of play and led the 76ers to a 24-18 lead. Philadelphia outscored Utah 19 to seven in the first seven minutes of play; however it was Utah that finished the quarter strong as they outscored Philadelphia 11 to five to close the quarter.

Rodney Hood, who had 9 points and 8 rebounds, tied up the game in the second quarter on a layup with 3:49 to go in the half. The Jazz then took the lead, 32-31, as Hood connected on a free throw. The two teams traded baskets throughout the remainder of the quarter, the 76ers taking the lead, 39-36, at the half.

The two teams traded baskets for much of the third quarter, the Jazz coming out on top 52-48. The fourth quarter was much like the third, the Jazz led by as many as eight in the quarter while the 76ers led by as many as four.

Reining NBA Summer League Tournament MVP Ian Clark suited up for the Jazz and scored four points in 21 minutes.

Utah will next play Milwaukee Monday night at 8:30 p.m. mountain time at the Thomas & Mack Center.
