Deputy saves pit bull

ST. GEORGE, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - A pit bull is alive Monday night thanks to a quick-thinking Washington county deputy.

Sergeant Kurt Bowen, found the dog, near St. George. It had been shot by an arrow.

Initially Sgt. Bowen thought ‘Sarge,’ the dog, was shot by a gun.

Sgt. Bowen was patrolling old Highway 91 when he saw Sarge with a severe wound and that's when the Sgt jumped into action.

Sheriff’s deputies are following up on leads in this case.

The Ivins City animal shelter is happy to announce that Sarge is doing fine now and recovering at a foster care home.
