Community pays respects to Sgt. Cory Wride

SPANISH FORK, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - Hundreds from the community came out in Spanish Fork to pay their respects to Sgt. Wride and his family.

You could see the flags lining Main Street along with blue ribbons on trees and sign posts in memory of Sgt. Wride.

Wednesday afternoon a motorcade escorted Wride's casket down Main Street.

A white limousine carrying his family followed immediately behind and then an endless line of emergency personnel from every corner of Utah and surrounding states with lights flashing. They were all there to pay respect for their fallen brother.

On both sides of the street hundreds of people from the community waving their American flags.

One mom tells she wanted to bring her kids today to teach them about what it means to be a true hero.

“Just mainly to show our respects to the family and to show my kids that there are everyday heroes around us you don’t have to be famous to be a hero,” said Chara Messick.
