Box Elder High School responds to gun text

BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - The Box Elder County Sheriff’s department reported that their office received a text Monday morning indicating that a student may have brought a gun to school.

The sheriff's office said local law enforcement responded by sending several officers to Box Elder High School.

The Sheriff's office reported that a preliminary investigation conducted by both school officials and law enforcement found no basis for a threat, and that Box Elder High School was not placed in a lock down mode.

The sheriff's office said there was an increased presence by law enforcement.
