BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (AP) - A 31-year-old Boise man is dead after rear-ending a semi-truck in northern Utah.

Utah Highway Patrol officials say Anthony S. Jackson was killed in the crash about 1:30 p.m. Monday on Interstate 15, just south of Brigham City.

Troopers say traffic was being slowed and diverted to another lane to avoid a grass fire in the median. Jackson's Ford Escape was unable to stop in time and swerved, striking the back of the truck.

The Escape spun and hit a guardrail before hitting a Pontiac driven by an 80-year-old North Ogden man.

Authorities say 28-year-old Jeri Jackson was a passenger in the Escape and was injured. No others in the crash were hurt.
