Best Friends Animal Society opens 'kitten nursery'

The Best Friends Animal Society invited people to take a look at their brand new kitten nursery on Saturday, and they're hoping that each of them will be able to find a loving home.

The goal of the nursery is to save 1200 baby kittens that come into partner shelters without their mothers. The nursery is based on the efforts of a pilot program that helped to save 500 kittens last year.

"Cats are the most frequently killed pets in shelters," said Best Friends spokeswoman Temma Martin. "The goal here is to make Utah a no-kill state. Our goal is to save them all."

Best Friends Animal Society is looking for donations, volunteers and foster homes for the new kittens in the nursery. For more information, visit
