The Los Angeles, California native leads Bees batters with 12 home runs and 46 RBIs, while hitting for a .335 average. Boesch was named PCL Player of the Week for the week of June 16-22.
The 27th edition of the Triple-A All-Star Game will be broadcast on MLB Network, the American Forces Network, and the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network starting at 5 p.m. Mountain time. The International League currently holds a 9-7 record in the 16 years of the PCL vs. IL format. The winning League will once again earn the right to have its champion play as the “home team” at the Gildan Triple-A National Championship Game on Tuesday, September 16 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Boesch, a former Detroit Tigers’ third round draft pick in 2006 out of the University of California-Berkley, is in his first season in the Angels’ organization. The 29-year old has been selected to three other All-Star teams, including the 2006 New York-Penn League Mid-Season All-Star team and both the Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star squad in the 2009 Eastern League. Boesch was twice named AL Rookie of the Month with the Detroit Tigers in 2010 and has appeared in seven games with the Angels this season, collecting three hits in 13 at-bats.
Boesch becomes the fourth current Salt Lake player to be named to the PCL All-Star team. Infielder Efren Navarro represented the Bees in 2013, reliever Dane De La Rosa was selected to the 2012 International League team while with the Durham Bulls and outfielder J.B. Shuck played in the 2011 Triple-A All-Star Game in Salt Lake City while with the Oklahoma City RedHawks. Salt Lake has been represented in the Triple-A All-Star Game by 32 players since 1994, including Major League standouts Todd Walker, Howie Kendrick, Mark Trumbo and Kole Calhoun.
Boesch and the rest of the Bees start their final homestand at Smith’s Ballpark before the All-Star break on Friday night, with three games against the El Paso Chihuahuas, followed by a four-game set against the Tacoma Rainiers.
