Wednesday, just after noon, the Utah County Sheriff's Office was notified of a missing 20-year-old male. The male, Stephen Simmons, is autistic but is higher functioning.
He was with a large number of people on an outing at South Fork Park in Provo Canyon. He was last seen around 10:30 a.m.
Stephen is 6'00" tall, weighs 230 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. He is wearing a blue striped polo shirt, black shorts, and may have a blue back pack with his name on it.
He does not speak well and will be difficult to understand and he may drool when he speaks. He lives in a group home in Payson and has family in Riverton. He would know how to make his way to either location. It is possible he could hitch a ride from the area. He likes to sneak up on people and scare them.
Utah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue is in the area looking for Stephen. There is also a helicopter assisting in the search. Anyone who sees Stephen or has information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Utah County Sheriff's Office at (801)794-3970, or call 911.
