April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Every year, nearly 3 million reports of child abuse are made across the nation. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.

That's why Prevent Child Abuse Utah works to not only raise awareness but to prevent child abuse on a regular basis.

Development Director Jerry Moore talks more about the organization's efforts.

Prevent Child Abuse Utah, Division of Child and Family Services and the Utah Association of Family Support Centers will join together on April 7, 2015 to recognize Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Representatives from each organization will make comments and address the issue of child abuse in our state. Those in attendance will be invited to participate in planting a pinwheel garden. Pinwheels are the national symbol for child abuse prevention representing the bright, happy childhoods that every child deserves.

The organizations will meet on the south steps of the Utah State Capitol at 2 p.m. to raise awareness about protecting Utah children from abuse.

Toll-free statewide child abuse reporting hotline is 855.323.3237.
