SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – The greatest snow on earth, but Thursday it was the snow that had travelers delayed to both depart and arrive at the Salt Lake International Airport.

“We were about 13 hours in the plane all together,” said Jeff Sangster whose flight with his family to Sun Valley was delayed.

Jeff, his wife Samantha Sangster and their two little boys Christmas vacation to Sun Valley was pushed back after they were rerouted to Dallas from Atlanta because of snowy conditions in the beehive state. Now, the family of four is happy to get their bags and start their ski trip.

“They just told us our bags are already on our way up to Sun Valley, where we’re headed and so we’re going to get on our plane. They haven't assigned seats yet so we got here nice and early. Hopefully, we get seats and it looks like weather is okay on both ends,” said Sangster.

Now, a day after the storm 7,000 bags lined up by the airports baggage claim are just adding to the hustle and bustle of busy holiday travel. Travelers like Katie Meek say despite 9 hours of delays, it could have been worse.  “It’s just about finding that bag, finding that car, finding a way to our destination,” said Meek.

Now travelers like meek and the Sangsters can put Thursday behind them and enjoy the rest of their vacation.
