EMERY COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – An Oregon woman’s body was found on a road in Emery County Wednesday.
A man visiting from Germany reported finding the body on his way to the Mussentuchit Sand Dunes.
Emery County Sheriff’s Office says the man came across the body and drove about 25 miles to the nearest town to report what he found.
Deputies responded and determined there were no signs of foul play. Near the woman’s body were plastic grocery bags with food and water, a cell phone, several forms of ID, credit cards and cash.
Detectives also found a set of keys and began to look for the vehicle. The vehicle was eventually found about five miles from where the body was discovered.
Flash flooding had recently occurred in the area and the vehicle had become stuck in a wash. Several portions of the road were washed out, but were passable in a 4X4 vehicle.
The woman was identified as Marlene Clark, 82, of Oregon. The body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the exact cause of death.
