When will TRAX come to Lehi?

Traffic, population growing in Utah County

LEHI, Utah (New4Utah) - Officials with the city of Lehi are working on a master plan to solve a growing traffic problem -- and to prepare for a possible TRAX stop in coming years.

What do residents think of the traffic?

"It's horrible," said Cassie Sorensen, a Lehi resident.

City leaders say they are trying to prepare for growth to come.

And, they say, for the possibility that Utah Transit Authority could extend TRAX from Draper to Lehi.

"We're trying to get ahead of the curve and plan for transit," said Kim Struthers, Lehi Community Development Director

Currently, the city is proposing a handful of possible locations for a TRAX stop, said Struthers.

But that stop could be a decade -- or decades -- away.

"There's not money out there currently. It's a very expensive thing to build," said Strughters.

For now, Utah Transit Authority controls the corridor for the future TRAX extension, and long-range projections have TRAX to Lehi in the works for 2030 or even 2040--according to UTA.
