Utah woman and friend create new fitness craze

BOUNTIFUL, Utah (Good4Utah) - In one year High Fitness has gone from an idea to a fitness revolution across Utah.  One Utah woman and her friend from Canada created the class and are not looking back as they take over North America.

High Fitness Co-Creator Emily Nelson explained, "We like to say you mix the fun with the fitness and put it together."

Nelson and her friend Amber Zenith created the class one year ago.  They felt there was something missing in the fitness world.

Nelson explained, "We met years ago in Canada.  We had taken and taught hundreds of fitness classes between the two of us and we thought there was a niche missing in the fitness industry.  Classes were either 'dancey' or really hard.  We felt that we needed to mesh the two together."

The end result is an intense hour of calorie burning and toning.

Zenith said, "We do cardio peaks and toning tracks.  So we bring it up and bring it down to catch your breath and you really tone your muscles."

The best part, anyone can do it.

Nelson said, "We have young hip dancers, older women and 70-year-old men in our classes because we have taken out the confusing and we have stuck to core fitness moves."

Zenith explained, "It is a fitness class before it is a dance class."

The class you see today is the result of years of development from Emily and Amber and then add to that twelve crazy months where the love of High has exploded.

Nelson said, "We threw it out there.  It's our passion and it's our dream and the response has been huge and they keep coming."

Classes are always full and there are daily requests for more classes in more locations.  Currently there are 65 certified High instructors in the US and Canada.  The ladies are working hard to keep up with the demand.

Zenith added, "We want you to be part of an experience.  We are leading you, but we are part of the vibe and having fun and doing the moves.”

The class looks intense and it is!  Nelson and Zenith say to really get it, you have to try it.  To find a class close to you, click here.
