SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – A Salt Lake County man is accused of threatening to kill President Donald Trump during his visit to Utah in December. He was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail Monday.
Trump traveled to the Beehive state to announce changes to Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments.
The indictment released Wednesday alleges Travis Luke Dominguez, 33, threatened to kill the president and harm police officers if they tried to stop him from executing his plan. Dominguez faces charges including making threats against the president and maliciously conveying false information.
The indictment alleges Dominguez submitted the following messages and others via an online tip line to police:
"I'm a Navy Seal. .. I woke up and decided going to kill the president Donald Trump today. Please forgive me and then I will die by suicide by cop.”
"I'm going to kill the sexist racist homophobic President Trump today. Nothing you can do to save President Trump nor stop me pigs.”
Federal court documents also indicate Dominguez also threatened to carry out an attack, a mass shooting or bombing, at multiple locations in Utah including a Chase Bank in Sandy and a Megalex Movie Theater in South Jordan.
