SANDY, Utah (News4Utah) - Hundreds of kids took aim at a regional championship at Mountain America Expo Center in Sandy.
The National Archery in Schools Program Western Region Championships were held over the weekend featuring student archers from 17 different states.
Ralynne Takeda of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources said 17,000 4th through 12th graders at 105 different schools participate in the program here in Utah. This weekend's event featured competition in different grade levels with kids taking aim at both bullseye and 3D targets.
The NASP is giving out $184,000 in scholarships to winners both at the Utah competition and the Eastern Regional Championships next month in Louisville, Kentucky.
