MIDVALE, Utah (ABC4 Utah)-SWAT teams have called off an overnight standoff involving a wanted fugitive after learning that he wasn’t inside the home.
Unified Police say David Hendricks, 38, is a wanted fugitive. The Metro Gang Unit was following him around Tuesday night. They believed Hendricks barricaded himself inside of a home at 611 West 5th Avenue in Midvale.
According to police, the SWAT team was called out Wednesday morning to negotiate with Hendricks. They fired off flash bang devices to try and get his attention. Police say because of his violent past, they wanted to take precautions in case there was someone else inside the home with Hendricks.
Just after 7:00 a.m. Unified Police tweeted that SWAT cleared the home and did not find Hendricks.
As of this article, Lt. Brian Lohrke was being briefed. We will have an update as soon as it becomes available.
