SLC Residents Evacuated After Natural Gas Leak Discovered

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) Some Salt Lake City residents were evacuating from their homes Monday evening after a gas leak was discovered. 
 
Officials say a small leak was detected near 800 East and Roosevelt while city crews were doing routine inspections. 
 
After a second crew confirmed it they called out fir fighters and hazmat mostly to help evacuate certain homes and keep the streets blocked off.
 
The pipe where the leak was detected was around one and a half inches.
 
Twenty-five to 30 homes were evacuated as a precaution.
 
 By 9:15 p.m. most fire crews had left the scene and some residents have been allowed back.
 
Questar Gas officials are inspecting homes before residents are allowed back inside.
