Siblings face charges after argument leads to stabbing

EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – An 18-year-old is in critical condition after a stabbing Tuesday.

“There was an 18-year-old young man who sustained several stab wounds. Quite seriously injured,” said Sgt. Spencer Cannon with Utah County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but is reported that his injuries are not life-threatening.

Utah County Sheriff's Office says the stabbing occurred when Steven Johnston, 18, of Eagle Mountain, was arguing with his 14-year-old sister and reportedly began to assault her. Investigators says Steven's 16-year-old brother attempted to intervene and stabbed Steven five times.

The 16-year-old brother was arrested and booked into Slate Canyon Youth Detention in Provo on one count of aggravated assault, a second degree felony. Steven will face charges of child abuse for the assault against his sister, investigators say.
