4 people shot at the Walmart in West Valley, 14-year-old girl among the victims

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (News4Utah) Reports of shots fired at the Walmart in West Valley City at 3180 S 5600 W at about 8:10 p.m. Saturday.

Police confirm four people were shot, including a 14-year-old girl.

Lt. Amy Maurer with the West Valley City Police Department said an RV belonging to the rap group, 'Mr. Criminals' was parked in the Walmart parking lot when shots were fired. Witnesses told police that a small red passenger car pulled up and exchanged words with those at the RV. They say the red car left the area then returned and fired shots from the main road.

Lt. Maurer said the 14-year-old girl was at Walmart with her family when she stopped at the RV and was shot. Police say the three male victims left the scene in the RV while police were arriving on scene. Officers later found the RV at a nearby school with a flat tire. The three male victims ages 36, 23 and 22 were all found inside the RV along with a fourth person who police say was not hurt.

The shooting did result in damages to the Walmart. Police are still looking for the suspects in the red passenger car, possibly a Hyundai. Investigators are working to obtain surveillance video from nearby businesses and believe this may be gang related.

This is a developing story. Details will be updated as they become available.
