Series of Earthquakes Hit Nevada

HAWTHORNE, Nev. (ABC4 Utah)- A series of  earthquakes shook parts of Nevada and California overnight.

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the preliminary quake at magnitude 5.7 with a depth of 5.3 miles. A second earthquake was measured at magnitude 5.7 at a depth of 7.4 miles, and a third was measured at magnitude 5.5 at a depth of 5.3 miles.

The USGS says the epicenter was 56 miles from Garderville Ranchos, Nev. and 69 miles from South Lake Tahoe in California.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.

There are no reports of any injuries.
