Search and rescue scuba teams called out in crash that left 3 dead

BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- The Box Elder County Search and Rescue scuba team was called out after a car rolled into a canal early morning.

Officials say they responded to 8300 North 6800 West (Iowa String Road) between 1:30 and 2 a.m. Monday after reports of a rollover.

Authorities say there were two men and two women inside. One woman reportedly had survived the crash and ran to the highway for help.

According to the police report, the Nissan SUV was northbound on 6800 West when the driver left the roadway, overcorrected, and rolled the vehicle.

The two men and two women inside were ejected. The SUV came to a stop in the canal that parallels the highway.

Several rescue teams, including the search and rescue scuba team were called to the scene. Police say the two men were found dead near the SUV. They have been identified as Jose Gabriel Esquievel of Garland, and Chris C. Martin of Willard. They were both 40. The other woman was found downstream about 1.25 miles. She has been identified as Adalynn Head, 37 of Tremonton. The surviving female that went for help was flown to a local hospital.

The cause of the crash is under investigation but officials say "no seat belts were used and alcohol was a factor".
