HEBER CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Police are looking for two women, in their late teens, who were allegedly in a car that hit a 12-year-old boy and drove away.
It happened Friday afternoon on the road just outside Josue Jimenez's home.
“I fell on the cement really hard," said Josue, 12 years old.
“I was like, dying," he added.
Josue says he even looked both ways before crossing the road. But then the car came at him -- knocking him to the ground.
Josue says that two women came out of the car and asked him if he was okay. They asked if they should call police, but he said no. He now regrets not taking a photo of the car -- or calling police. But the Heber City Police Department says the two women were obligated, by law, to stay on the scene. And since they left the scene, it is now a hit and run.
“It goes from a crash, to an accident, to a crime," said Sgt. Salvador Segura with Heber City Police Department.
Segura says the two women, likely in their late teens, were in a sedan -- possibly a dark-colored Nissan sedan.
“We’re asking for the public’s help to see if we can get any additional information about who actually his this boy and just left him there," said Segura.
“We wanna know why they didn’t stop. And render him aid, or call the police, or call medical services to get him medical care. 'Cause it was obvious that he was injured," added Segura.
If you have any information, you're asked to call Heber police at (435) 654-1411.
