Police investigating hit-and-run that left 50-year-old woman dead

GRAND COUNTY (New4Utah)- Officials in Grand County are investigating after the body of a 50-year-old woman was found near her vehicle Sunday morning.

Police say it appears the woman, identified as Cheryl G. Zimmerman of Lakewood, Colo., had pulled a white SUV she was driving to the side of the road and parked.  Police say they suspect she was hit by another car that was traveling southbound.

Zimmerman's body was found about 12 miles north of Moab on SR 191 near milepost 140.

“The car that struck Zimmerman did not remain at the scene,” a press release from Grand County Sheriff’s said.

Officials say they are looking for a white semi-tractor with damage to the right passenger side.
