Police: Cooperate as much as possible if ever robbed at gunpoint

Police are searching for a suspect accused of threatening a gas station clerk with a gun.

They say the suspect walked into the Shell gas station on 520 East 2100 South around 6:30 a.m. Monday. Police say the suspect demanded money but the clerk did not cooperate.

“The clerk in this case was pretty feisty and she wasn’t gonna give into this guy,” Det. Robert Ungricht said. “We definitely encourage people not to do that.”

Det. Ungricht says if you are ever robbed at gunpoint you should cooperate as much as possible.

“This could have ended a lot differently. He could have potentially shot the clerk,” he said.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s. They say he was wearing a blue quilted type jacket and jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 801-799-3000.
