Just before 1 a.m., hours after the search began, Turner was found by family friends in a dry canal. Police say she had been shot in the head.
She was transported to a local hospital. She has since been placed in a medically induced coma.
Two 16-year-old males were identified as significant persons of interest.
After multiple search warrants were served authorities say they found key evidence leading to their arrest.
"Items that have been seized include the handgun believed to be involved in the shooting. Much of Desirae's personal belongings including her cell phone and other corroborating evidence," Smithfield City Police Chief Travis Allen said.
The identities of those involved has not been released.
