Man struck by TRAX train in Murray identified

MURRAY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – A pedestrian is dead after he was struck by a Utah Transit Authority TRAX train Wednesday afternoon.

The man, 26-year-old Joey Kirk, was hit at the Murray Central Station in the area of Vine and Cottonwood Streets.

UTA police say he was wearing head phones and a ball cap. He reportedly stepped in front of the incoming train and did not see it. 

A bus bridge was activated between Murray North and Fashion Place West due to police activity. The incident caused some delays for commuters on Red and Blue Line trains.
