TREMONTON, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – Residents in the Tremonton area will need to travel to Brigham City or Logan for their liquor after a local package store was closed.
The Tremonton Liquor Agency also called the Tremonton Package Agency was recently closed. The store is not a state liquor store.
The Utah Department of Alcohol Beverage Control enters into agreements with business owners in small cities, so they can sell alcohol. The business owners are required to meet certain “financial standards” and make regular payments to the DABC.
DABC officials say the business owner had struggled to keep up with payments. A recent audit showed the owner fell behind frequently and because of that board decided to terminate his liquor license.
Officials say it will take a couple of months for the DABC to find another outlet in Tremonton. All the product from the store was taken to the Brigham City store. The DABC is now taking bids for a new agency in the area.
