One person killed in residential fire in Sunset

SUNSET, Utah (ABC4 News) - One person died in a house fire that started Friday night in Sunset. 

North Davis Fire District Chief Mark Becraft said crews were dispatched at 8:17 p.m. to a home that was on fire at 75 West 2300 North.

When crews arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the home out the front windows. They immediately started a defensive attack before gaining entry to the residence. 

Once they were able to get inside the home they found one person inside a bedroom. They brought the individual outside of the home but the victim did not survive. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation the estimate of damages is around $200,000. 

Sunset City elected to shut down their fire department in 2017 so agencies from North Davis, Layton and Clinton responded to the two-alarm fire. 

The name of the victim has not been released pending family notification.
