TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC4 News) - A 60-year-old man died after being hit by a car in Taylorsville while crossing the street and police are now asking for help in finding the suspect who hit him.
Lt. Brian Lohrke, Unified Police Department, said the 60-year-old man was hit as he crossed the street at 4774 South Redwood Road at about 10:24 p.m. Police and medical personnel arrived on scene and attempted to treat the man but he died at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle that hit him had already left the scene before police arrived. Witnesses told police the victim was crossing east to west on Redwood Road when he was struck by a 2001 white Chevy Malibu driving north. The driver, described as a young female with dark hair, stopped for a short time, then drove north and west onto 4700 South.
Witnesses also told police it was dark and raining at the time of the crash and the man was not in a crosswalk.
The case is being investigated by UPD detectives. Anyone with information is asked to call Unified Police at 801-743-7000.
