UPDATED: The 38-year-old man hit by a TRAX train Saturday morning has died, according to UTA police.
He has been identified as Matthew Jay Evans of West Valley City .
SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (ABC4 News) A man is in serious condition after being hit by a TRAX train in South Salt Lake Saturday morning.
Police responded to calls of a pedestrian being hit at the Meadowbrook TRAX Station, 3900 South 188 West, just before 11 a.m.
UTA spokesperson Remi Barron said the man was walking from the parking lot to the TRAX at the platform crossing and according to witnesses did not look up or either direction before crossing.
"We really try to get people to pay attention, but it appears this gentleman did not look before he attempted to cross," Barron said.
The man was reported as not being responsive at the time of the incident but was transported to the hospital and is currently in serious condition.
