Man accused of shooting homeowner, firing at officers still on the run

RIVERTON (News4Utah)- Police have released multiple pictures of a man accused of shooting at officers and injuring a homeowner Saturday.

Officers say they first noticed the suspect, Justin Gary Llewelyn, 33, as he was "prowling cars" early Saturday morning.

When an officer approached him they say he took off on foot.

"Moments later he encountered another officer, shot at the officer's vehicle and then exchanged fire with the officer," officials said.

Llewelyn then broke into a home to steal a car. Police say when the homeowner confronted the suspect, Llewelyn shot the homeowner twice and took off.

"We think it is critical to find him. He is very violent," Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera said.

Investigators are still looking for him. They say if you see him use extreme caution. He is considered extremely dangerous.

"We don't know what escalated him to go from property crime in the area to something so violent to shooting at police officers and shooting a homeowner. We need to have him come in," Sheriff Rivera said.
