Saturday is FIRST Day at Weber State. Weber State is hosting the First LEGO League North State Championship, 47 of the top FLL teams in the state will be competing for awards and a chance to go to the World Festival in Houston, TX.
Thirty-six FIRST Tech Challenge teams from across Utah will also be competing for the state championship and to advance to the Western Super-Regional in Tacoma, WA. In total, we'll have about 1200 people on campus for Weber's first ever FIRST day.
FLL is an exciting, fun robotics and innovation program that ignites an enthusiasm for discovery, science, teamwork and technology in kids ages 8-14. FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.
FLL is a global program, the Utah season is organized by the College of Engineering, Applied Science & Technology at Weber State University to promote innovation among our youth. Students have the opportunity to:
- Design, build and program robots using LEGO MINDSTORMS technology
- Apply real-world math and science concepts
- Research challenges facing today's scientist
- Learn critical-thinking, team-building and presentation skills
- Participate in tournaments and celebrations
