How to get the most out of a Moab adventure

MOAB, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – If you’re planning a trip to Moab, you know there’s so much to see and do while you’re there it, can be hard to decide.

That’s where the Moab information center can help, but it has a lot more to off than just information. 

It doesn't matter what time of the year you visit Moab, the information center in the heart of downtown has all the information you need to kick your adventures into high gear.

Moab is home to some of Utah’s most famous landscapes chock full of adventure, but you may not even know some of it exists.

“The BLM and Forest Service don't have visitor’s centers in h he area, and a lot of the recreation happens out on those public lands happens in those areas."

From the maps and books to exhibits for the kids, stopping at the information center before you trek through the county pays off. You’ll be able to spy some stunning bird’s eye views of the area on the new movie debuting at the information.

“It's 4K technology, it's super crisp, it's super sharp. Filmed with drone technology. It's kind of state of the art, it's really exciting to be part of the project.”

It’s 18 minutes of video bound to get you amped to explored. The information center also gives you the skinny on events happening during your stay. One of the major ones is the Moab Folk Musical Festival going on Nov. 3-5.

"The event creates a sense of spontaneous community. It’s almost as if Moab is opening up its living room to the folks from the Wasatch and wherever they are coming and saying, come on and celebrate this music with us,” said Melissa Schmaedick.

Schmaedick produces the festival and has for the last 15 years. She says folk is the music of the people. From the outdoor daytime events to the sit-down venues at night. The three-day festival has something for everyone.

“It's a really friendly laid back, really warm atmosphere,” said Schmaedick.
