Grantsville man charged with rape of 13-year-old West Valley City girl

The two allegedly met through Snap Chat

GRANTSVILLE, Utah (ABC4 News) - A 29-year-old Grantsville man has been arrested for rape of 13-year-old girl he allegedly met on Snap Chat. 

According to arresting documents, Grantsville City Police received a call from police in West Valley City in regards to a reported rape that occurred on September 22 in Grantsville. 

Police report the victim, a 13-year-old girl from West Valley City, had met Parker online and agreed to meet up with him. The girl told police he brought her back to his home in Grantsville where she stated she remembered being at his home when he gave her something and that she woke up the next morning naked, and reported she had been raped.

Police were given permission by the girls mother to take over her Snap Chat account and detectives began a conversation with Parker, who believed he was still talking to the girl. Several messages had been received by Parker asking the girl where she was at. 

The detective replied to Parker and asked for his phone number, which he gave to who he thought was the girl. The detective continued to talk to Parker, mentioning that she was 13 and detectives said he had no concerns about her age. 

After asking to meet up again to spend the night, Parker agreed to meet the girl at an undisclosed location. Detectives observed Parker showing up at that location and followed him to another location where he was placed under arrest. 

Parker agreed to talk to detectives and corroborated much of what was told by the girl and he admitted to having sex with the girl but claimed to not know the her age. 

Parker was transported to the Tooele County Jail on charges of rape of a child, sodomy of a child and sex abuse of a child.
