CEDAR CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) - Girls from high schools across the state got hands-on technology experience in Cedar City on Monday.
Southern Utah University was full of teenage girls learning about 3-d printers, chemical experiments, and even LED jewelry. SheTech’s hope is to give girls from rural Utah experience in tech fields, as well as mentoring, to inspire them to seek out careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
"Since I like how things work, you know, technology, I decided to come. It was amazing,I just looked at everything, how everything works, and it's just like 'boom' mind blown!” said Zamayra Rodriguez, a Senior at Southwest Education Academy.
SheTech is part of the Governor’s plan for economic development, working to connect students to high-paying and high-demand jobs across the state.
