DAVIS COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 News) - The Davis County Sheriff's Office wants to get the word out about distracted driving after a driver crashed head-on into a patrol vehicle all because they were playing with a puppy.
The incident happened around 10 o'clock this morning. According to the Davis County Sherriff's Office's Facebook page the driver was going about 30 mph down the road in Sunset City. The driver swerved into oncoming traffic and crashed into the bumper of a Davis County Sheriff's Officer's patrol vehicle.
The driver told officers that he was playing with a puppy. Fortunately no one was injured in the crash but DCSO wants to get the message out about the dangers of distracted driving.
"Please, we implore you, do not drive while distracted!" DCSO said on their Facebook page. "There have been several instances where drivers were not able to walk away from this type of dangerous behavior. Put down your cell phone, your puppy, your makeup and anything that can take your eyes off the road."
The driver was issued a citation for the crash.
