LEHI, Utah (ABC4 News) - The community showed up to help as Vivint Smart Home held a donation drive to help the victims of Hurricane Maria that left a path of destruction in Puerto Rico last month.
Collections of bottled water, food, diapers and other essential items were taken Saturday at both the Lehi Vivint Smart Home location and the one in Provo.
The company is full of employees with ties to the area. That's why they are coming together to host a Puerto Rico hurricane relief drive.
"We have quite a few connections to Puerto Rico and the citizens there, so as Hurricane Maria hit we knew we needed to do something to help, and we wanted to help in a big way," said Vivint Gives Back, Director Holly Mero-Bench.
Vivint is using those connections to get donations shipped to where they are needed, most for free.
They are able to take anything the community gives, and Saturday, Utahns have responded.
